My Husband has HCC
My husband was diagnosed with HCC last July. He had a single, large tumor in his liver. The doctors were hoping to shrink the tumor so that it could be removed with an immunotherapy drug, Nivomulab. He had to stop it after he developed myasthenia graves, a disease that severely weakens the muscles. We are talking about EVERY muscle in the body. He had double vision, difficulty swallowing, and couldn't walk more than a few paces without getting severely out of breath. Apparently, one out of 11,000 people can develop myasthenia graves from Nivomulab, and my husband was unfortunately, one of the ones who did. The good news is that he was treated with a steroid drug and he is finally back to normal. The bad news is that his cancer has now metastasized to the lungs. When we saw the oncologist last week, he said he probably only has about 1.5 to 2 years left.
