Meningioma - Skull Based and finally applying for SSDI after 17 years.
Hello all - This is my first post on this app. I wish CancerBro was around when I was first diagnosed in 2002! It was a scary, lonely world back then. Its encouraging seeing so many folks connecting here. For me, I had my first two crainitomies in '02 at MD Anderson. Three more followed with my treatment now at USC in Los Angeles. I have a meningioma on my brain stem, total resection was not possible. I have cranial nerve damage from my first surgery and have dealt with other side effects, such as hydrocephalus. I have a VP Shunt now to manage my cerebral spinal fluid. I have pushed thru and still built a good career, but now I am 52 and exhausted. Its hard to keep up the fight! I am now out on disability for the first time (other than a few weeks post-op) and I'm in the process of applying for SSDI. I'd love to get to know some others here. Tips on SSDI would be great! Best of everything to all my fellow fighters and survivors XOXO.
