I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. Will the chemo just kill me instead of cancer?
Hi, my name is Dawn, I’m from Michigan. I’m 49 years old. On January 8th, 2019 I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. On January 26th, 2019 I underwent surgery that removed my tumor, my sigmoid colon and 5 inches of my rectum. I had an amazing surgeon that was able to remove the above items and then reconnected me. I was able to pass gas and have a bowel movement within a few days of the initial surgery. No colostomy bag. I am 15 days post Op. I’m still quite sore, exhausted and mentally drained. I have an appointment with my oncologist this coming Wednesday and I’m scared to death that I have to do chemo. Will I lose my hair? Will the chemo not get rid of the remaining cancer? Will the chemo just kill me instead of the cancer? The unknown sucks. Cancer sucks!
