Diagnosed with angiosarcoma in my left breast. Grateful to have found this community.
Good morning and I’m grateful to have found this space. My name is Ashley and I’m 36yo. I’m married with a 4yo and live in Nashville, TN. I’m a social worker and direct a homeless outreach program for a mental health nonprofit and work to assist the most marginalized and vulnerable with accessing resources in our community. I was diagnosed with a primary angiosarcoma in my left breast in February 2018 and had a single left mastectomy in March. With this being a very rare form of disease I became more terrified about action steps, as did my providers. With the margins they got with my mastectomy, I did not need further treatment. I’ve been getting scans every three months since March and will continue. This past week, I had a right mastectomy for balance and comfort, since I was starting to have sever back pain from having just one breast. I did not get reconstruction! I’ve been struggling to find my community, as I’m not experiencing Breast Cancer. Having a sarcoma in your breast, is not “Breast Cancer” although it’s often treated as such. I hope I can find people experiencing things similarly to me, here. Thank you for allowing me the space to share.
