Hello guys, I recently joined this community and wanted to know if Multiple Myeloma can be diagnosed by means of a PET scan? Any help or suggestion will be very much appreciated.

The CancerBro Multiple Myeloma discussion forum is an online support group for anyone dealing with multiple myeloma. Join our multiple myeloma social media platform to easily connect with other patients, survivors, and caregivers.

About Multiple Myeloma:

Multiple Myeloma is a cancer which forms in  plasma cell. Plasma cells make antibodies which help the body to fight against infections. As per the stats shared by American Cancer Society, there will be approximately 32,110 new cases of multiple myeloma in the United States (2019). 

Multiple Myeloma Risk Factors:

  1. Age: It is most common in people over 60 years. 2% of all cases occur in people aged below 40. 
  2. Race: More common in black people than white. 
  3. Exposure to radiation.
  4. Family history.
  5. Gender: More common in men. 
  6. Obesity.

Multiple Myeloma Symptoms:

  1. Weakness and fatigue. 
  2. More Frequent urges to pee regularly. 
  3. Restlessness and confusion. 
  4. Loss of appetite.
  5. Nausea and vomiting
  6. Unexplained weight loss. 

Raising awareness on Multiple Myeloma is important more than ever in order to save precious lives. We are working on this mission to spread cancer awareness and create a wonderful support community for them. In our blogs and social media profiles, we constantly share about its risk factors, symptoms, diagnosis/investigations, staging system, and the latest treatment options available.
